La Finitud

The Finitude

Brilliant world premiere of La Finitud. The entire cast moves effectively within an intricate script featuring Caballero's singing and Sara Calero's dancing, which seem to me to be rooted more in classical forms than in aesthetic disruption. The visual development is so powerful that it barely gives us time to discern the musical and dance components from the overall work. At that stage, it doesn't matter if we are flamenco purists or pelicans. The piece is for all audiences and all ears, and this is where the courage of the entire company must be celebrated.

La finitud

“We waste the day waiting for the night, and the night fearing the dawn.”

— Seneca

Human beings are the only creatures with an awareness of their finitude. This condition turns death into a pact with life. And vice versa. An awareness of transience that determines faculties and emotions such as language, thought, misfortune, or joy. But that primal anguish emerging from the ephemeral houses, nevertheless, the secret of happiness.

In a doomed existence, laughter connects with the most authentic part of our vital experience. The management of despair opens the way to transcending even the confines of time and life. Within the awareness of our own destiny lies freedom. Our life is finite. Our dreams, limitless.
